The Performing Arts and Inspiration Mixtape Essay Example For Students
The Performing Arts and Inspiration: Mixtape Essay In 1988, Bobby McFerrin wrote and performed a number one hit on the billboard top 100 chart. (Brainpicking, 2011) ââ¬Å" Donââ¬â¢t Worry Be Happyâ⬠is a composition that promotes a happy mood in a person, which in turns provides a contagious attitude in others. The Lyrics are catchy and they imply that even on the worst of days things can always turn around. My personal favorite song at the moment is written and performed by Mercy Me, ââ¬Å" I Can Only Imagineâ⬠is a tribute to God and explains what it is a person might feel could happen when their day comes. Any time I hear the song play I instantly feel a deep connection. The lyrics are straightforward and I find myself singing along to the words. I get an innate feeling to put my hand in the air and praise him while I sing. This particular musical form is one method people use for worship. We will write a custom essay on The Performing Arts and Inspiration: Mixtape specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Honestly, I have never listened to opera prior to this class. While I was listening to a few songs on YouTube in order to this assignment I found ââ¬Å"Habanera From Carmenâ⬠by Georges Bizet. To me it was difficult to hear what exactly was said because of how high the pitch was. However, watching the performance that went along with it was entertaining, the performers are extremely talented. I would say that opera is probably my least favorite works of music. Gregorian chants were very common during the medieval times. These musical textures were considered monophonic, which means that they had a single melodic line. These chants were used in catholic churches during worship. While listening I found two chants in particular that drew my attention; ââ¬Å"Chant Of The Templarsâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Hail Holy Queenâ⬠Both songs are by salve Regina I believe, with the language barrier and how old the songs are it was difficult to understand who performed the songs. Salve Regina was first recorded in 1959 and performed by the Benedictine Monts of the Abbey of St. Maurice and St. Maur. ( Kamien, Roger, 2014) These are regarded as holy and spiritual chants. When I first heard the songs I could not understand what they were trying to convey however, I enjoyed the melody and harmonic flow. Later I found another version of ââ¬Å"Hail Holy Queenâ⬠that contained translation of the words. After seeing the translation it coincided with what I initially felt, a rather warm feeling and at times I felt a little chill.

Flood Attacks essays
Flood Attacks essays Countermeasures for SYN flood attacks There is no single countermeasure to protect against SYN flood attacks. However, there are certain steps that can be followed to minimize the risk of damage caused by such attacks. One countermeasure to SYN flood attacks is reducing the duration of time required for a timed out of a connection, to take place. If a large number of connection requests are sent to a target system, then the spoofed requests would be discarded sooner, thus minimizing the hogging of memory and hence minimizing the risk of such attacks. Although this will minimize the hogging up of system resources, it is still not a very good countermeasure against SYN Attacks. One weakness is that it might increase the probability that legitimate access is rejected. Another countermeasure is increasing the queue of connection requests. This might allow room for non attack requests to get through, however, the problem with this is that it will result in hogging up of more memory and resources of the host. A third countermeasure involves employing a firewall that will detect SYN flood attacks and respond with fake responses, and try and trace back the spoofed source address to the actual attacker. Some routers also provide a countermeasure to SYN flood attacks. The router acts as a transparent TCP proxy between the real server, and the client. When a connection request is made, the router completes the handshake for the server, and opens the real connection only after the handshake is completed. The router also places a threshold on the amount of connection requests it handles. If the amount of half-open connections exceeded the threshold it lowers the timeout period interval, thus dropping the half-open connections faster. ...

What Plagiarism Is and Tips on How to Elude It
What Plagiarism Is and Tips on How to Elude It Religiously Adhering To The Guidelines: How To Elude Copying In Essay So lets talk about plagiarism, the ââ¬Ëkiller disease that is ailing the better percentage of studentsââ¬â¢ population and making things worse, the students are not even aware of it. Universities and other educational institutions abhor plagiarism as it is not only slipping its way into students academic lives, but the students are not mindful of it. Often than not, we have received concerns and queries from people requesting that we clear some issues for them. What is plagiarism? Why is it wrong? How do I know I am copying some elses work? How can I remedy it? Luckily for you, this is our area of specialty, and we hold every answer to any question you might have. We have dissected this jargon ââ¬Ëplagiarism and explain every aspect relating to it ranging from its definition and characterization to the dos and donts. Lets get dicing! Plagiarism, what does it comprise? To be able to put things into more perspective, let us begin with the definition of plagiarism. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, it defines plagiarism as the act of deliberately presenting someone elses work as your own without giving them credit. Note that the definition strongly inclines towards stating the fact that plagiarism involves ââ¬Ëcheating. University writing prohibits in any account should you copy an assignment from a friend, from the internet or any other study material. It is wise to first start by reviewing what is acceptable and what is not according to the university writing standards. The first outlawed behavior is copying, buying or having someone do an assignment for you. Without saying, this is wrong and I can bet when you are presenting the task to your instructor, your heart beats faster than usual as the fear of getting caught becomes imminent. This statement is not to say that you should not ask for a friends help and opinions or google some answers on the internet, but that you should write your thoughts and not those you have copied from different sources. Moving on swiftly, a fact that is elusive to many students yet frequently practiced is self-plagiarism. Tendering in an essay, dissertation or any other work you had done and submitted for another subject in another class is an offense that can land you in trouble. The most significant attributes that a university can pride itself in is quality education where students get grades that they deserve. Plagiarism puts this objective into jeopardy as it erodes the uprightness and reliability of the universitys education system. As a student, you should endeavor to avoid plagiarism as it is not only cheating, it gives you this false impression that you are performing well when in reality you might be not. It is imperative to know by heart and follow the laid set of guidelines by the university. You might be wondering why you should heed to this advice? The number of things that can go wrong if your secret gets out in the open is frightening. Let us begin with what could go wrong when you are caught cheating before guiding you on how you can evade this menace. Many universities have a protocol on the steps to follow in disciplining a student caught cheating. At the outset, the instructor checks your work and possibly as many universities now do, the instructor passes your paper through plagiarism checker applications such as Turnitin and so on. On the realization that your article does not comprise of your original work, the instructor calls you into his/her office, interrogates you after which they either award you a zero or pass on your case to the dean of students. If the situation is too complicated for the deans office, you can be called in by the principal and who wants to be called in by the principal for not so good reasons? Ignorance is no defense, always remember this as you do your assignments. The number one excuse that most students give when caught is that they were not aware they were committing a writing offense, a clichà © that needs to stop. You must know and apply the guidelines provided by the university to avoid getting yourself in such situations. Again, get conversant with your schools rules. Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to instill fear in or frighten you but open your eyes to the reality of the matter and exactly the fate you will share like many other unfortunate students have. To help you wrap your head around this issue, below is a selection of the most popular questions we get and our professional responses. Citations Unlike high school writing, university level is more demanding of quality, good writing techniques, and evidence to support your claims. In many instances, your professor or course instructor will instruct you to use peer-reviewed journal articles or research papers. The problem comes in when you use other peoples thoughts, opinions or suggestions without referencing or giving them, credit and it culminates to plagiarism. Therefore, it is important to cite every information you outsource. The essence of citations Citing is important because it indicates that you have conducted vast research on your paper and you took your time in preparing it. Instructors and professors award grades to students according to their judgment of the amount of effort, your knowledge and proficiency in a particular topic. When you reference your work, this demonstrates to the examiner that you did put in work, and therefore, you are deserving of a good grade. When and where to insert citations Ideally, you are expected to cite sources that were useful and helped you put together your paper. However, too much citation becomes plagiarism in itself as throughout the paper you will air and express the opinions and thoughts of other people. Popular phrases and expressions commonly used do not necessitate referencing. A decent paper that meets the standard requirements has minimal citations to maintain originality. How to differentiate between popular knowledge and personal thoughts To differentiate between the two, common knowledge are truths that everybody knows and do not need to refer to countercheck the information. For example, Barack Obama was the 44th president of the United States of America is common knowledge known to everyone and it calls for no referencing. Personal thoughts are opinions specific to an individual which you get either from a book, research paper, bibliographies and so on. How to cite other peoples work There are some citing approaches available to writers, and they include APA (American Psychological Association), MLA (Modern Language Association) to mention but a few. These styles have unique characteristics features exclusive to each style with some being complex while others simple to understand. Hence, it is mandatory to first acquaint yourself with the style the paper requires. If you are not certain, make a point of seeking clarification from your professor or instructor. Thanks to technology, you can access these referencing styles off of the internet, download and print them for future use. Now you know the different types of citation formats, but how do you insert the sources into your work? There are two main ways to go about this; you can either paraphrase or quote the words, phrases or sentences you have borrowed. Paraphrasing is restructuring the borrowed material and putting it across using your own words. On the other hand, quoting is lifting the material and inserting into your paper precisely the same way without changing anything, use quotation marks. Prudence should be employed when writing short notes with the probable cause of using in future assignments to avoid plagiarizing the words as you cannot find the exact paragraph or page number you derived it from the material you read. As mentioned earlier, different referencing styles demand varied formats for citing sources, especially for lengthy quotes. For example, in APA the following form should be adhered to, indention of à ½ inch from the left margin and end the phrase with a colon. Make sure you read the instructions of the paper before beginning the writing process. Rewording is the process of restating some elses speech without changing or distorting the meaning. Nevertheless, you must cite the sentences you have paraphrased lest it will be ruled out as copying. If you are citing a long phrase, the citation will look something like this; authors last name (Beckham), the year the source was published (2016) or the page you got it from (p.11). The disclaimer here is that, despite the fact you reworded the phrase, a reference is needed to dodge copying accusations. Characteristics of good works cited page or footnotes The golden tenet is all the sources used in the in-text citations should appear in the reference page, works cited, bibliography, etc. depending on the formatting technique of the paper. Sources not used in the paper should never appear on the works cited page. Those sources will be stricken out as irrelevant. Use the proper layout to arrange the sources, i.e., begin with the authors surname, year, the name of the article then the name of the journal. Ask for assistance There is no shame in asking nor receiving help with your assignment. Ensure you do the assignment yourself before seeking help. Some people have raised concerns arguing that taking the paper to editors is also cheating. They insist on the later as the editors in an attempt to perfect your paper, will make changes to it, and in the end, little close none of your initial work will be traceable. Varied institutions have differing reservations. Various universities will allow you to consult a professional and even make changes to your paper as long as you come open about it and indicate on top of the article. Simultaneously, other institutions strongly forbid it as it stating it is foul play. Translation software should be a no-go zone for you as it is plagiarizing your work. The structure, meanings and meaning are altered. Aside from this, there is omission and distortion during the translation process from your mother tongue to English. The effectiveness of such software is still under contention. Is it alright to request assistance when I get stuck in my assignment? Asking for help with your homework is acceptable, and no one can fault for that. However, you would want to be careful with whom you ask for advice. Decease from consulting your friends most especially if they happen to be your classmates. Sharing ideas and possibly writing the papers together culminates into cheating as you will both present a similar flow of thoughts. The best and safe source of help will be your professor or subject instructor. An instructor will offer you shallow insight with reasonable cause. You can seek the help of professional writers who will guide you on basic rules to writing a good paper. Alternatively, you could use a prototype essay to compare and contrast with your paper. The use of a prototype does not imply that you will be plagiarizing but is it like a guiding torch, where you can draw ideas, the dos and donts and so on. Negotiations in Management Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Negotiations in Management - Assignment Example Tax payers would disagree with the lengthening of the school day and year for fear of more taxes to cover the expense. Students would miss the free time of summer. Parents opposed to this idea would complain it is their job to raise their children, not the schools. It would be a breakdown of the family structure. Some Republicans might even suggest socialism. Possible Solutions: One solution would be more after school programs. Instead of teaching music, art, gym, and other extra activity curriculum in hours after school. This would allow more teaching time in the day, a lengthening of the school day, and a safe enviornment for children after school. This would be done during the school year without cutting out summer break. The second solution would be lengthen the year and day, but make parents volunteer or pay for the extra hours during the day. This would allay costs and allow parents to interact with their children at school. The last solution would be to not lengthen the school year or day, but make available more after school activities that are federally funded and parent involved. The last solution would probably work out the best for all parties. If schools could be opened after hours as a safe haven for children, with a learning environment, the individuals wanting to lengthen the school year might be happy. By having parents involved, costs could be cut down on hiring professional teachers for this time period. Of course, background checks would be completed by any volunteer. Children would not be stressed by too much education, but stimulated by school and after school

Rhetorical Analysis of Artifact: The Ballot or the Bullet Essay
Rhetorical Analysis of Artifact: The Ballot or the Bullet Speech Given by Malcolm X I. Introduction: Though almost half a century has passed, the Civil Rights Movement remains one freshly imprinted in not only the history books of US schools but also in the minds of countless Americans. Albeit, American society has come quite a ways in the acceptance of the individual - regardless of sex, age, creed or ethnicity - prejudices of different sorts are still to be found throughout every one of the united states of America. The Civil Rights Movement fought to overcome the racial inequalities inherent and ingrained in the minds of America's citizens and the government which they oversaw; it was one of the most important eras in the history of the United States of America and for that reason, its leaders and their words are widely studied, remembered and, frequently, revered. One such case of this remembrance is that of Malcolm X's speech "The Ballot or the Bullet." Generally viewed as one of the top ten most significant speeches in American history, one must wonder at what factors have contributed to the speech's longevity and implied importance. For one, the speech was given during the height of this movement and by a greatly influential leader of the time. Yet the speech contains merits all its own that allow it to remain powerful long after its orator has ceased to be. For one, the artifact is filled with forcible and compelling language that would provoke some sort of feeling in anyone who reads it. Furthermore, it utilizes a broad spectrum of rhetorical devices which keep the audience captivated and interested. Howev... ...ing at a table doesn't make you a diner, unless you eat some of what's on that plate." Thus, Malcolm X uses his speech to unify the Negroes on two fronts: in the sense that they must stand together against the suppression of the whites and that they must endure their "non-Americanism" amongst the company of one another. Yet, as soon as he has done this, Malcolm X turns to make, what might seem, a paradoxical and fairly non-artistic case as for why the black populace is indeed American. He begins by introducing the non-artistic proof that black Americans were originally slaves, working for the profit of the white man. In this sense, he then uses an enthymeme to equate the United State's current state of wealth to the work of those long-dead slaves; the blacks are therefore responsible for the US being a rich nation.

Nursing Paper Essay
1. Read page 115 Discriminating between truth and nontruth . After you have read this give an example that you have experienced that fits both truth and nontruth. ââ¬â An example of a truthful situation would be when I was lost on the way to visit an old friend of mine and I stopped at a business and asked directions, The cashier gave me helpful direction and even showed me on a map which way to go, this truth was from the best of her knowledge of the city I was traveling through. A nontruthful experience of mine was when I had to be at a doctorââ¬â¢s appointment at a certain time. I asked a friend of mine if she could take me and she agreed, well, I was left without a ride to the appointment and had to cancel when I found out that she had already made previously plans and never had the intention of helping me. ââ¬â 2. Read page 117 White Lies. Have you ever told a white lie? Been told a white lie? Please share at least one example and whether you feel that the white lie was okay. -I believe everyone has told a white lie sometime in their life and also that everyone is a victim of a white lie. An example of mine would be that for my birthday this past year my sister got me a new shirt, Well, me and my sister do not have the same taste in clothing and when I opened the gift I just had to smile and tell her I loved it and would wear it somewhere that next weekend. To answer the following questions read the Discussion Exercises 7-1 3. Do you believe there are any issues with truth-telling or deception in this case? Explain. * I do believe there is a bit of deception in this patientââ¬â¢s case. The hospital not disclosing this personal information to her is wrong. I believe she has a right to know anything that is known about her condition as soon as it is known to the physicians. 4. What should you do or say if the patient comments, ââ¬Å"I am a little worried . I just realized that i missed my period. Do you think it is just because of my being so sick?â⬠What action should the nurse take to be a patient advocate? * I believe that in my position I should not disclose the news about the pregnancy. In this case I would tell the patient that I will have the doctor come and discuss with her about her questions as soon as possible. â⬠¢Later, the patientâ⬠¦. -I believe the nurse should keep the separation of a working environment, not a personal one. A Nurse should never give a patient a ride unless it is a relative or someone they know in another way other than her job field, giving this patient a ride would cross a lot of professional work environment values and also the like between nurse and a caretaker which shouldnââ¬â¢t be crossed. â⬠¢When saying goodbyeâ⬠¦. -Any caring nurse would feel obligated to go check on the patient whenever he/she could. When in this situation a nursing student would have to think about what this would mean for her career. She would be crossing a professional standpoint of keeping a caretaker relationship of the patient. Personally, I believe she should politely decline to visit her. â⬠¢The nursing student â⬠¦. * The nursing student would no longer be in her working environment at this point and she should not give any medical advice. She would again be crossing the professional/personal boundary. The nursing student should tell the patient to return to the hospital to be checked on.
